Preparing to Buy a Home

I originally met Len in the early 1990s when he started his real estate career at my RE/MAX Office. As a retired Realtor, I knew I needed a strong agent who could make the best of our crazy market. I had not seen Len Harris for many years.

When it came time to sell, a good friend, also a retired Realtor, highly recommended Len Harris. She said he would get the job done quickly and without a lot of problems. She was so right. Len is a very positive guy who loves his job and works very hard to please his clients.

We received two offers on the first night. Both had too many troublesome conditions. Len suggested we reject both, and he would work hard to get something better. The next night, we received the third offer. It was clean! No conditions. We countered the offer price higher, and the buyer accepted.

Len Harris is an individual who has had an interesting and diverse career path. He started his professional journey by joining the Canadian Forces in 1975 as a Combat Engineer, where he gained various skills including bridge building, mine warfare, demolition, and hand-to-hand combat. During his time in the military, he also developed discipline, self-confidence, and focus.

In 1990, Len decided to leave the Canadian Armed Forces and transition into the real estate industry, despite being just five years away from a lifetime pension. This career change came with its challenges, as the real estate market was in a difficult phase with high interest rates, crashing prices, and many realtors struggling to make sales. However, Len managed to close an impressive 47 transactions in his first year, a significant accomplishment given the circumstances.

His real estate career continued to flourish, and the following year, he closed 103 transactions, ranking him as the #88 RE/MAX Agent in Canada out of over 10,000 RE/MAX professionals. He also became the #1 RE/MAX Agent in the “City of Ottawa.” Len’s dedication and success in the industry were further recognized when he was awarded the RE/MAX International ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ in 2005.

In 2009, Len decided to return home to British Columbia to be closer to his aging mother. He continued to work as a realtor, specializing in listing and selling luxury homes priced between two and six million dollars. while working at Sotheby’s International Realty – Canada. He gained expertise in representing sellers of high-end real estate during this time.

In 2018, Len returned to Ottawa and resumed his real estate career, this time as a member of the ‘Right at Home Realty’ team. Throughout his career, Len Harris has demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and a knack for excelling in challenging situations, making him a successful and accomplished real estate professional.

I had purchased a new home in Southern Ontario to be near family. When my Ottawa property was ready for the market, Covid 19 was rampant. I talked to another Realtor before meeting Len Harris, but she did not seem able to meet my needs, had little knowledge about the market, and lacked the excitement I felt my property deserved.

I received a letter from Len a few months earlier when he sold a home in my area. He sold it for a record price. When Len Harris arrived, he was so optimistic about my house that I immediately knew Len was my guy.
